Its the Intrepid only Reliant style. Much the same way the the Galaxy was modified for the Nebula. Starfleet had this propensity for repeating its ship designs!
Hey, why does every new ship have to be state of the art? Why are the storis about cutting edge ships with fantastic crews?
What about the garbage scows of the fleet?
