Answer to Question for Stardate 31997.0:
: : The Suffix "U.S.S" stands for - - United StarShip. (I
: : have recieved many questions on what the suffix
: : "NCC" stands for. It doesn't stand for anything. Some
: : starships start with the suffix "NX.") The above
: : answer has been contreversional since S.T. very first
: : started in the 60's. There is no OFFICIAL answer to
: : this question. (If you really are curious, visit a
: : Naval base in your city, ask someone who has been on
: : a Naval Ship. Nearly all Naval ships start with
: : "U.S.S."

: : Question for Stardate 32197.0 to 32397.0:

: : How many elements are known in the 24th century?

: : CopyrightM.A.'97
: : All Rights Reserved

: =/\=
: The NCC at the beginning of each starship has sometimes been said to mean:
: ( N )aval ( C )onstruction ( C )ontract. But I read, I think it was in Rodenberrry's biography, that the NCC came from the registry number off of an airplane owned by the guy who designed and built the original Enterprise. I hope this helps.
: Oh BTW there are 246 known elements in the 24th century.
: YEE HAA.
: LLAP :-}

I have heard that one and also Navigational Contact Code. None of this is official though. I think I like yours better, that way NX can be Naval eXperiment or eXperimental.
