STAR TREK TALOS

HISTORIANS NOTE: This story takes place 9 months after the events chronicled in the motion picture, STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT

PROLOG

The Great Wars have been fought. Now they were over. The Wars had forced a small community to regrow in the depths under the planet. This community had such a high intelligence that they quickly got bored. They used their great brains to try to rebuild, but the world was too far gone. One of the citizens, Magistrate Cerik, who was considered a great leader
used mind exercises to further increase his mind. Others followed suit. They learned what we humans have been trying to do for years: use our full brain
capacity. Some of the beings just couldn't handle the brain pressure and their brains exploded and they died. But they were the weak. To give themselves amusement and insight, the beings who named
themselves the Talosians captured specimens of different species in the galaxy. They encountered humans when a small survey craft crashed
on their planet. There was one survivor, a beautiful woman named Vina. She was severely injured in the crash and beaten up. The Talosians tried to
"put her back together", but failed miserably. She was grosteque lump of flesh now, so the Talosians used an illusion to make her think she was normal and beautiful again.

Some years later, the starship U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 discovered the Talos Star Group. The Enterprise was under the command of Captain Chris Pike. The Constitution-Class vessel was on a rescue mission. They detected old-style radio waves emitting from Talos IV. Commander Spock wanted to rescue the victims, and after a while Captain Pike agreed.
Soon after beaming down, they realized they were tricked by elaborate illusion and Chris Pike was captured by the Talosians.

He was held in a Cage and was tempted by various stimuli, such as food, his home, and Vina, the human woman that was living on the planet. By displaying brute force and subjecting the Talosians to savage thoughts, weakening them, he, with the help of his crew escaped the Cage. The Talosians then understood that humans don't like captivity. A
truce was made and the Enterprise left the Star Group.

Captain Pike was returned to the planet 13 years later when the USS Enterprise under Captain James T. Kirk was highjacked by Commander Spock. Chris Pike wanted the same gift as Vina did, an illusion of youth and normality. After he was returned the Talosians were never heard from again, except in Starfleet Academy when professors warned their students never to violate General Order 7. If a starship contacted or visited Talos IV, it meant the death penalty for its commander. But there was no rule for if the Talosians made first contact . . .
