Ah, I errored in what I said about the books. I found the place on Avenger where it ties in to all, and the place where it says the events of First Contact was 1 year earlier.Spock--"...you were in the Central Node...Did you pull the lever?"
Kirk--"I pulled the lever"
"It was a transporter beam that had claimed him, and that had ripped him from the Node...an ordinary transport lasted seconds...this had lasted longer..."
Spock--Then the transporter beam you leapt into...?"
Kirk..."Was part of the homeworld's evacutation system. Our ships have escape pods, so maybe the Borg have escape beams."
Spock--"Last year, a Borg vessel attacked Earth. It was defeated...Picard encountered a...Borg whom all recrds indicate had perished earlier in the destruction of another Borg Ship" Not only does it tie in, it continues everything perfectly and continusally! No descreptanties (SP?) or anything. Cool, huh?
