: OK, we know that it is a long-time Star Trek tradition : to present modern issues in an allegorical futuristic : setting. However, has this tradition been broken in : recent years? Since Gene Roddenberry died, do the : current creators of ST still explore modern issues : the way the original series and the early episodes of : TNG did? I don't see how--I mean it doesn't seem that way to me. when was the last time I encountered a shape shifter who took the place of my mother....If the Dominion are suppose to represent something in real life then I would like to know what... but that is OK I don't watch ST strickly for the hidden meanings, I enjoy the show therefore I take the good with the bad....after all Roddenberry is dead...as sad it is I'm just pointing out the obvious ST is no longer about one mans dream- its about money and ratings. at least the way I see it.
