Your right that they do keep a track of your assigned IP...that is only if the server that you are routed through is running a sniffer. Otherwise, it's just background noice to the router...it doesn't really care. On top of that, if you were using a dialup service, it would be even harder...simply because everytime you log in you get a new IP address and a different modem with a different adapter address.
