...he can't help it that Berman apparently felt Lisa Klink was a good comedy writer - which just ain't the case!

Andy Dick has gotten rave reviews for his portrayal of Matthew on NewsRadio, and deservedly so. Not only he, but the entire show is hilarious. Message In a Bottle was not. It was an amatuer attempt at comedy that only worked mildly in the second half of the show.

Besides the fact that the Romulans were VERY boring, you are right to point out the lack of drama at the end of the episode. Instead of giving us a dramatic scene with Janeway making contact with the Alpha Quadrant for the first time, we are given a quick throwaway scene with the EMH giving here-say. Pretty lame. So was the Prometheus "big secret." Splitting into 3 ships...technically the Enterprise-D split into 2 ships - I was expecting something a little freakier and neater than that.

I thought the episode was considerably more boring than some have described it, which is a shame, because it WAS an interesting premise. But like Year of Hell, it let me down - and seeing as Voyager doesn't inspire a lot of hope, that's saying something!
